Patricia completed her Ph.D. in 1976 at the University of Toronto. She was at McGill University from 1976 to 1986 in the Department of Educational Psychology, then at Brock University from 1986 to 1996 in the adult education program. She initiated and directed Brock University’s Instructional Development Office during that time. Patricia was a Visiting Professor of Adult Education at the University of New Brunswick, and most recently a Visiting Professor of Adult Education at St. Francis Xavier University, from 2002 to 2005.

Patricia has published 12 books in the areas of adult and higher education along with numerous journal articles and conference presentations.
