Two Students in ClassThe Center on Rural Education and Communities (CREC) conducts and supports both research and outreach activities that address rural education and community-related issues in Pennsylvania, the nation, and the world.

The CREC is committed to providing education and service to the people of Pennsylvania and beyond. Our major goals are to foster nationally and internationally significant interdisciplinary research alliances and outreach activities that benefit rural education and rural communities; to serve as an information clearinghouse on issues affecting rural education and rural communities; and to act as a convener and bridge between rural schools, and communities at local, state, tribal and national levels.

In pursuing our Center's mission then, our three major goals are:
