EDUCATORS ARE UNABLE TO ACCURATELY RECOGNIZE SIGNS OF BULLYING

While at least 20 states have enacted bullying prevention laws in the wake of Columbine and other incidents of school violence, Penn State research shows that educators over-identify the physical signs and under-identify the social and emotional signs of bullying.

"INTENSITY OF SERVICES" IDENTIFIED AS MOST IMPORTANT VARIABLE FOR ADULTS IN FAMILY LITERACY

When adults participate more frequently in literacy activities—whether in formal programs or in self-directed or distance situations—families see better literacy results.

SOLVING "REAL-WORLD" PROBLEMS HELPS MIDDLE SCHOOLERS DEVELOP REFLECTIVE THINKING SKILLS

Penn State research suggests that middle school teachers who are supporting reflection in a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) environment should consider the developmental thinking characteristics of their students.
