Dr. Ladi Semali is professor of Education at the Pennsylvania State University, in the Learning and Performance Systems Department . Dr. Semali specializes in adult

education, curriculum theory, literacy education, comparative ways of knowing and learning, literacy education, and non-Western educational epistemologies.

Dr. Semali was the chair of Comparative and International Education at Penn State and is currently the Co-director of the Interinstitutional Consortium for Indigenous

Knowledge (ICIK). He teaches graduate courses in Language and Literacy Education, Adult Education, Media and Technology Literacy in the Digital Age,

Perspectives in Intercultural Communication in Multicultural settings, Cross-Cultural Research Methods in Education, Epistemological Issues in Indigenous and

Ecological Literacies, Perspectives in African Education, and courses in Comparative and International Education www.ed.psu.edu/educ/eps/cied/.

His work has been published in the International Review of Education and Comparative Education Review. He is author of Literacy in Multimedia America

(Routledge/Falmer), Postliteracy in the age of democracy (Austin & Winfield) and editor of What is indigenous knowledge: Voices from the academy with Joe Kincheloe

(Garland).
