Nancy Arden Gage '80 M.S. COMDIS recently joined the East Greenwich, RI school department as a speech-language pathologist, having previously worked in the schools in East Providence. She is a Board-Recognized Fluency Specialist, specializing in the treatment of stuttering disorders. She and her husband, Wayne, live in East Providence. Susan Evagash Miller '88 M.Ed. C&I Dr. Miller is Professor Emerita in the Department of Education at Point Park University in Pittsburgh. She has had a peer-reviewed paper published by the University of Oxford, Oxford, England. The paper featured the results of a study she created involving the use of contemporary and classic children's literature to help students distinguish between leaders and bullies. Last March, she was selected to present her findings to academics from around the world that have special interests in children's literature as they convened at Oxford for an Oxford Round Table Symposium.
Dr. Miller received a B.S. in business education from IUP and an Ed.D. in educational leadership from Duquesne University. In a career that spans more than 45 years, she has taught in elementary, secondary, and higher education settings. (January 2012)

Nicholas T. Pappas '85 B.S. EK ED is the author of a new book "The Dark Side of Sports: Exposing the Sexual Culture of Collegiate and Professional Athletes." The book provides and impacting and disturbing examination of an array of sexually deviant and aggressive practices that have silently thrived for decades (1960s-2010) in a variety of athlete cultures. Dr. Pappas' unique background as a former collegiate and professional athlete/coach in combination with his experience as a researcher, professional counselor, and college professor provided unmatched insider access to athletes from different sports. Tish Szymurski '86 B.S. REHAB is Dean of Continuing Adult and Professional Studies at Neumann University, Aston, PA. Tish assumed her role as president of the Association for Continuing Higher Education (ACHE) at the Annual Meeting and Conference in Albuquerque, NM in October. Among program awards and recognitions over the past 20 years of her experience, Tish was most recently the recipient of the Penn State Outstanding Alumni Award for outstanding contributions to higher education and commitment to community, and a 2008 Ryland Fellowship with EDUCAUSE.
