K-12 Science Curriculum Specialist
Northeastern PA Intermediate Unit 19



Doug recently accepted a position as the K-12 Science Curriculum Specialist with Northeastern Intermediate Unit 19 which serves the school communities of Lackawanna, Wayne, and Susquehanna counties. The Intermediate Unit serves as a link between member school districts and the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Doug will collaborate with teachers and administrators that work in the districts within his IU to deliver science initiatives, provide curriculum services, and allow for professional development opportunities.

Formerly, Doug taught courses in the biological and environment sciences as well as offering independent studies courses at Pleasant Valley High School. At Penn State, Doug was a teaching assistant for several Science, Technology, and Society courses offered through the College of Engineering and several Biological Science courses offered through the Eberly College of Science.

Doug is a lifetime member of the Penn State Alumni Association and a member of the Penn State Alumni Association's Wilkes-Barre Chapter. Doug received the College of Education's Alumni Society Outstanding Student Teaching award for the Spring 2005 semester.
