Alumni Invited to the Annual HESA Holiday Party

This year’s Holiday Party will be a potluck dinner held on Thursday, December 10 at the local American Legion (1950 Pine Hall Road). HESA will provide the non-alcoholic beverages and main dishes, which will include turkey, ham, and vegetarian lasagna. Please sign up no later than Tuesday, December 8 to indicate how many guests will be attending and what type of potluck dish you will be bringing to the dinner. The event will begin with a cash bar reception at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Like last year, the party will include a “White Elephant” gift exchange after dinner. For those of you unfamiliar with a “White Elephant” exchange, all you need to participate is a small (or large) recycled gift to exchange. Don’t bother buying anything. Just look around your attic for that broken Elvis clock or re-wrap that reindeer sweater Aunt Gertrude gave you in 1986. The funnier the better! Past gifts that induced much laugher were a “Shalom Y’all” plaque, an autographed photo of David Perez II, and a romantic novel collection. Can you top this?! Try!!

If you have any questions about the party, please do not hesitate to contact HESA social co-chairs, Jordan Humphrey and Travis York.

HEPAC Welcomes New Faculty

This year has been marked by several significant changes to the Higher Education program and CSHE faculty. While we were saddened to bid adieu to Dr. J. Fredericks Volkwein as he set off with wife Kiki to enjoy retirement close to their grandchildren in Connecticut, 2009 has brought some exciting new additions to the faculty. HEPAC is delighted to welcome Dr. John Cheslock, Dr. Kimberly Griffin, and Dr. Liang Zhang. Click here to meet these new faculty members.

Upcoming Anniversary Celebration

HEPAC is planning an event to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Higher Education Program and the 40th anniversary of the Center for the Study of Higher Education. Details available soon, so check back!

Upcoming Conference Gatherings

Nothing posted currently, but please check back frequently. If you will be attending a conference and would like to announce a gathering, please contact Betty Harper at BHarper@psu.edu.
