Language and Literacy
Claudia Anderson is a former elementary school room teacher, reading specialist, and staff developer. Also, she is a former reading intervention trainer for CLIP, the "Collaborative Literacy Intervention Project" based in Tempe, AZ, instructing teachers in Arizona, Colorado, the Navajo reservation in New Mexico. She has written thematic units and activities for reading texts published by the Wright Group; has authored materials for staff development manuals, has made presentations at state, regional, and national reading conferences; and has provided inservices and workshops for room teachers and administrators in Arizona, Nevada, and Mississippi. As a PSU instructor, she teaches reading and language arts methods courses. Also, she has created and teaches special topics courses, such as formative literacy assessments, spelling development and word study, shared reading and writing, and guided reading and writing. She was awarded the "Celebrate Literacy Award" for exemplary service in the promotion of literacy from the International Reading Association and the Arizona Reading Association for her workshops on how to incorporate reading and writing poetry in elementary rooms.
