Dr. Arbaugh's interests include the design and implementation of teacher development programs (both preservice and in-service) and how and what teachers learn from these programs. Dr. Arbaugh is a former high school mathematics teacher. She received an M.Ed. in Secondary Mathematics Education from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1996 and a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction (Mathematics Education) from Indiana University–Bloomington in 2000. Dr. Arbaugh regularly publishes her scholarly work in research journals and is a consistent contributor to publications intended for practitioner audiences, with the purpose of strengthening the links between research and practice in mathematics education. Dr. Arbaugh was named a William T. Kemper Fellow for Teaching Excellence at the University of Missouri (MU) in 2007, receiving one of the most prestigious teaching awards at MU. She currently serves as President-Elect for the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE) and will be the AMTE President for two years beginning in January 2013.
