Karen Johnson teaches one or two courses per semester in early childhood education at Penn State's main campus. She teaches the Administration of Child Service Programs (cross-listed with HDFS), Approaches to Early Childhood Education, Parent Involvement in the Schools, and Play in Early Childhood Education. Her interest areas are parent involvement and the use of play and children's literature in the promotion of the mental health of young children. Also, Karen is a mental health consultant for two human service agencies in Centre and Mifflin Counties. Her focus areas in mental health are children diagnosed with ADHD and conduct disorders.
