Bill Carlsen is a former science teacher with training in biology and computer science. He has served as principal investigator on a number of professional development and instructional materials development projects funded by NSF and other agencies, most related to teaching and learning in the environmental sciences. His research interests include teacher knowledge, environmental education, and precollege engineering. Dr. Carlsen was the first director of the Center for Science and the Schools.
