Early Childhood- Elementary Education

Childhood and Early Adolescent Education  (Pk-4, 4-8)

For the student teaching experience, student teachers spend fifteen weeks teaching full-time in classrooms. Student teachers are expected to devote their full attention to the student teaching experience and are supported in this endeavor by an experienced mentor teacher and a full-time university supervisor.

Student teaching opportunities for the  PK-4 ( Fall 2013 and beyond) are offered in various locations throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In addition, students in these majors may opt to participate in a yearlong professional development school experience or to student teach at the Pierre Indian Learning Center in Pierre, South Dakota. We also offer a short-term student teaching abroad opportunity for these majors.  Student teachers complete 12 weeks of full-time teaching in Pennsylvania, followed by 5 to 7 weeks student teaching at an international site.  More information is below.

Student teaching for the 4-8 options within the CEAED Major is offered only during the spring semester. Student teaching for this option is offered only in the Central region or at the Pierre Indian Learning Canter in Pierre, South Dakota.
