Jerry G. Trusty, Ph.D.
Jerry Trusty is a professor in the Department of Educational Psychology, Counseling, and Special Education at The Pennsylvania State University. He is Coordinator of the Secondary School Counseling Program. He is the current Editor of Career Development Quarterly. Dr. Trusty has worked as a middle-school and high-school counselor, a school-dropout prevention coordinator, and as a counselor educator. His research and scholarly work has focused on school dropout prevention, adolescents educational and career development, parents’ influences on adolescents, and opportunity gaps in schools. In his recent published research, he investigated the effects of students’ experiences and behaviors in high school on college graduation versus non-graduation. Jerry currently works with the Pennsylvania Transforming School Counseling Initiative. This initiative involves training school counselors to lead and advocate for effective school policies and practices.
