The National Collaborative for Career and Workforce Policy Development

Overview of NCCWPD

The National Collaborative for Career and Workforce Policy Development (NCCWPD) evaluates the impact of career and workforce development programs and activities on human and economic capital. NCCWPD generates policy recommendations to inform key stakeholders and the public on career and workforce development strategies that are designed to strengthen national, state, and local economies. Policy recommendations are research-based and offer syntheses of existing policies and produce empirical research that links career and workforce development programs and activities to outcomes that focus on human and economic capital. NCCWPD publishes papers, briefs, and conducts professional development and conference opportunities to build the capacity of stakeholders and the public to effectively implement the recommendations. As a collaborative, NCCWPD actively seeks liaisons with other national and international policy centers and organizations that are engaged in similar efforts. The fiscal agents that are coordinating the collaborative effort at The Center on Education and Work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, The National Center for Public Policy Development at Penn State University, the National Career Development Association (NCDA), and the Institute on Educational Leadership in Washington, DC.

The dual intentions of the collaborative are to: 1) generate policy and empirical research that informs policy makers about best practice strategies for designing career and workforce development programs and activities; and 2) advocate for improving human and economic capital of national, state, and local communities by engaging in translational research activities that help stakeholders and the public make informed decisions regarding the design and implementation of effective career and workforce development policies. The collaborative engages in translational research by providing professional development institutes, conferences, publications, and products.
