The Education Career Services Office assists students and educators preparing for positions in private and public sectors. Some of the services include:
Career counseling focusing on career planning, career opportunities, employer characteristics, and employment trends. Offered on an individual basis, as well as regularly scheduled group sessions connected with education classes.
1. A library of occupational information.
2. An extended file of employment opportunities and job listings.
Candidates interested in Education positions in Pennsylvania must use the PA Standard Teaching Application.
3. A listing of summer jobs and internships appropriate to the student's career interests.
4. A professional credentials file service for graduates, which includes an academic transcript, résumé, and reference letters.
5. Workshops on résumé preparation, job seeking strategies, and interview skills, including a videotaped mock interview with visual and verbal feedback from a trained interviewer.
6. Scheduling interviews throughout the academic year with potential employers, including the annual Education Career Day in the Spring on March 26, 2012, at the Penn State Conference Center.
All undergraduate students are encouraged to take advantage of these services, which also are available to alumni.
