M.Ed. Master's Program
Counselor Education Master's Program (M.Ed.)
Counselor Education at Penn State is a graduate program within the College of Education that offers professional preparation at the master's degree level (M.Ed. only) for qualified persons wishing to become career counselors, elementary school counselors, mental health counselors, secondary school counselors, or rehabilitation counselors.
General Requirements for Program
All emphases have specific requirements regarding the number of credits required and the amount of time to complete the emphasis. Full-time graduate students will average 12 to 15 credits in each of the University's two 16 week semesters per year.
Transfer of Credits
A maximum of 10 (appropriate) credits earned at another accredited graduate school or 15 credits through continuing education and/or non-degree work at Penn State may be transferred into a Penn State degree graduate program. Credits earned in these ways may be used only if they meet program requirements and are approved by the Penn State faculty adviser as well as by the Graduate School.
