About: Dr. Murphy’s teaching and research interests focus on the processes underpinning students' learning, and how cognition and motivation influence these processes. Her current research projects pertain to the function of students' and teachers' knowledge, beliefs, and interest in learning, the influence of epistemology, achievement goals, and self-efficacy on academic performance, as well as the role and influence of classroom discourse on high-level comprehension.

Her current research projects pertain to the impact of students’ and teachers’ knowledge, beliefs, and interest on learning, the influence of epistemology, achievement goals, and self-efficacy on academic performance, the impact of technology in text-based comprehension, and the linking of philosophy and psychology in educational psychology. Dr. Murphy serves on several editorial boards and has authored or co-authored numerous publications in outlets like the Journal of Educational Psychology, contemporary Educational Psychology, and the Educational Researcher.
