Rehabilitation and Human Services Student Organization (RHS SO)

Unknown.jpgRHS SO is a mutually collaborative community of students who share a passion for making a difference in the lives of others. This organization provides social and educational opportunities that promote professional identity and pride, mentorship and involvement among faculty, alumni, staff, and students, networking opportunities to explore employment and graduate programs; and service-learning. All students are invited to organization meetings to discuss upcoming events, leads for employment or internships, plan service-learning and social events, and to just spend time getting to know other students, faculty, and staff.

Active Minds at PSU

Active Minds is the only organization working to ultilize the student voice to change the conversation about mental health on college campuses.  By developing and supporting chapters of a student-run mental health awareness, education, and advocacy group on campuses, the organization works to increase students' awareness of mental health issues, provide information and resources regarding mental health and mental illness, encourage students to seek help as soon as it is needed, and serve as liaison between students and the mental health community.

Penn State Clown Nose Club

Philosophy:  Everything we do revolves around the central belief that people matter.  We are sold on the fact that interacting with people in creative, positive and personal ways should be the norm.  We also believe genuine positivity is wildly contagious and worth spreading.

Mission:  To challenge ourselves and others to take positive social risks in line with our philosophy of others.  We engage our world in interpersonal ways by:
•  Encouraging and equipping members, as well as those within their spheres of influence, to take positive social risks
•  Creatively utilizing symbols of joy (like a clown nose) in order to earn audience and gain rapport with people in hopes of initiating positive interaction
•  Redefining the norm in areas of social interaction
