About: Dr. Meyer has training as a school psychologist and supervises student research.
Areas of Research: Dr. Meyer's research and teaching interests are in the areas of reading comprehension, discourse analysis and processing, comprehension strategies, problem solving and decision making, and variations in such processes over the life span. Funding for her research projects on comprehension of prose by young, middle-aged, and older adults has come from grants provided by the National Institute on Aging and the National Institute of Mental Health. Her current grant, funded by NIA, is entitled "Minimizing Age Differences in Reading: How and Why." Dr. Meyer has two books on theoretical and applied aspects of text structure and reading comprehension and over 20 chapters in books on reading or aging as well as numerous journal articles. Dr. Meyer serves on a number of editorial boards and is a Fellow in APA and APS.
