Time to Completion

Of the students who graduated over the last seven years (N = 42), those who matriculated with a master's degree (n = 5) completed the program in an average of 7.6 years (SD = 2.23; median 7.6). For those students who matriculated with a bachelor's degree (n = 39), the average time to complete the doctoral program was 6.7 years (SD = 2.49; median 7). Percentage of graduates by years to degree completion is as follows: 5 years = 33% (n = 14); 6 years = 10% (n = 4); 7 years = 10% (n =4); and more than 7 years = 48% (n = 20).

Attrition

Of the total number of students (N = 45) who enrolled in the program during the past seven years, 13% (n = 6) left the program prior to completing their doctoral degree.

Internships

From 2004-2011, 38 students applied for their doctoral internship. All of these students (100%) obtained paid internships that conformed to the Council of Directors of School Psychology Programs (CDSPP) guidelines. Three students obtained an APPIC member and APA accredited internship. (It is important to note that the majority of APPIC member and APA/CPA accredited internships are not appropriate for school psychology trainees who must be placed in the school setting at least half-time.) None of our students elected to complete their internship over a 2-year period.

Recent Penn State paid pre-doctoral intern placements include:
