Three New Efforts to Improve Doctoral Education at Penn State


College News


LeTendre's tenure began on January 1, 2008.

The Robert F. Nicely, Jr. and Donna C. Nicely Doctoral Student Research Endowment in Educational Leadership will help outstanding doctoral students develop their research agendas.

Darling, an author of children's books, is connecting with the Goodling Institute for Research in Family Literacy to broaden children's interest in reading.

Aino Ugaste, faculty member at Tallinn University in Estonia, spent a month at Penn State recently.

Current AILP participants as well as recent graduates of the program participated

 

Syedur Rahman, Stephen Belcher, and Jane Reese bring an international flavor to their office.

 

Ellie Dietrich provides the latest news from the College’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations.

 
 

Faculty and Staff News

 

The National Council of Local Administrators recognized Gray for his influential work in career and technical education.

 

Gerry LeTendre, Barb Schaefer, and Deb Smith were awarded seed money for their projects.

Recent achievements of Hoi Suen, Stephanie Serriere, Peggy Van Meter, Rayne Sperling, Lisa Lattuca, Pat Terenzini, and Fred Volkwein.

Student News

 

Erin Elizabeth Twerdok Serves as 2007 College of Education Student Marshal

Twerdok was recognized at the Penn State Undergraduate Commencement in December.

 

Cordis presented her research at the Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program Summer Research Conference.

Sophomores Mathew Kovalich and Kahlie Long organized the successful middle school dance and associated activities

 

Recent achievements of Lydiana Arroyo, Donnan Stoicovy, and David Perez II.

 

Several graduate students delivered papers recently at professional conferences.
 

 

Announcements

 

The deadline for submission of nominations is February 7.

All undergraduate students are invited to enter the April 9 exhibition.

Submission deadline is February 15, 2008 for undergraduate and graduate students at the University Park campus.

Twenty grants are available for Penn State undergraduate students at all campuses in all fields of study.
