External Letters of Assessment



This section is paginated starting with D-1. Letters from External Evaluators.

These letters are confidential and are not accessible to the candidate at any time.
A minimum of four letters from external evaluators must be included. Internal letters (written by Penn State employees) cannot be placed in this confidential section of the dossier.

 Order of material:

  • Description of the procedure for selecting external evaluators, how the letters were solicited, what materials were sent to evaluators, and identification of those who have written the assessments (one paragraph each), including a brief statement of the referee's standing in his/her discipline (four persons, four paragraphs). Arrange in same order as names appear in log. For the College of Education statements and descriptions, see sample in mock dossier.
  • A copy of one of the letters of request sent to an external evaluator.
  • The Log of External Letters 
  • Insert External Letters in order listed in log
