The Scholarship of Research and Creative Accomplishments

 

This section is paginated starting with B-1. Every page must be numbered consecutively in the upper right corner.

The time span for material included in this section is the candidate's career.

Publications must be listed in chronological order with most recent date first. Do not include material contained in other sections of the dossier.
 

 RESEARCH AND/OR SCHOLARLY PUBLICATIONS

Electronic Publications:  For articles published only electronically and listed under refereed publications, confirmation of its refereed status and its editorial board must be included in the dossier. For articles published only electronically and listed under non-refereed publications, a description of the publication's selection process and the nature of the sponsoring organization or publisher must be included in the dossier. In both cases, this information is frequently found at the publisher's sponsoring organization's homepage on the web; if not, the candidate should obtain a statement from the editor. Articles posted electronically by the individual faculty member without a formal review are not to be listed in the dossier.

In cases of multiple authored works, indicate the contribution of the candidate in parentheses following the publication. Use the following terms:

(Principal Author) – candidate is listed as first author and performed more than an equal share of the research and authorship
(Equal contributions by authors) – candidate contributed an approximately equal share of the research and authorship
(First author supervised by candidate) – candidate is listed as an author, and if the first author is a student advisee of the candidate
(Contributing author) – candidate contributed less than an equal share of the research and authorship

Manuscripts accepted letter of acceptance must be placed at the end of this section

Manuscripts submitted, awaiting decision indicate where submitted, when, if peer reviewed, and number of pages in manuscript

Manuscripts in progress NOT to be included for 6th year reviews and/or promotions

CREATIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Exhibition, installation, production, or publication of original works of architecture, dance, design, journalism, literature, music, theater, visual arts, etc. 

PAPER PRESENTATIONS

Include meeting and paper titles. Indicate in parentheses following the listing if you were Presenter, Co-Presenter, Lead Presenter, Invited Participant, Student, Contributing author but did not present, etc. If a paper that was presented is published in conference proceedings, it should be listed only once under the refereed or non-referred articles category as published work. It will not appear in the paper presentation section.

PARTICIPATION IN SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS

Include short description of activity with titles, dates, sponsor, etc., and indicate in parentheses following the listing if you were Presenter, Co-Presenter, Lead Presenter, Invited Participant, Student, etc.

DESCRIPTION OF OUTREACH OR OTHER ACTIVITIES IN WHICH THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT USE OF CANDIDATE'S EXPERTISE

Outreach activities in research includes interactions between the University and external constituencies and events involving information discovery and/or dissemination of the results of the discovery between the University and outside audiences. They may include consulting, speaking engagements, services to government agencies, professional land industrial associations, educational institutions, etc. Dissemination of research may be through conferenes, workshops, institutes, semiunars, short courses, etc. For example:

  • Publishing a book of poetry is research; giving a reading to the community is outreach.
  • Completing a funded research project and publishing a paper related to international banking is research; hosting a workshop for the financial community to disseminate the results of the research is outreach.
  • Completing educational research related to new pedagogical strategies for secondary school chemistry education is research; going into the high schools to assist teachers in the implementation of those strategies is outreach.
  • Private consulting can be considered outreach.
  • Creating a new product as part of an industry sponsored grant is research; conducting a fee-for service project to improve an existing product for a company is outreach.
