Drucie joined the Institute for the Study of Adult Literacy in 2000; prior to that she worked for five years as faculty for the Indiana University of Pennsylvania's (IUP) Department of Professional Studies in Education. Drucie was director of the Urban Scholars Institute and CCAC/IUP program during the same period, also at IUP.
Here at ISAL, Drucie works with the Management Information System (MIS) Support Project, where she is working with select programs and the MIS staff, assisting with data quality and using data to improve program improvement, with the ultimate goal of better instruction for improved outcomes for adult learners. She also works with the Goodling Institute for the Research in Family Literacy to support a direct service program and continues to support family literacy initiatives for the state. For the past three years, Drucie has taught a World Campus Course, “Introduction to Family Literacy.”
Drucie's main areas of interest include the roles of self-efficacy and social capital in learning; parents’ engagement with their children and with their children’s schools; practitioner action research as a means toward program improvement; and transformative learning; and using data for program improvement.
