Sheila Sherow has a doctorate in adult education, with an emphasis on distance education, from Penn State. For more than 20 years, she served as the statewide coordinator of the Pennsylvania Literacy Corps, and she has developed and/or evaluated many different adult literacy grant-funded programs, including the Adult Diploma Program, an Even Start Family Literacy Program, and workforce development projects. She has also served as the professional advisor for the Adult Education and Family Literacy Interagency Coordinating Council since its establishment in 1996 and served as the Lead Faculty for the Family Literacy Certificate Program from 2005 to 2012. Currently Dr. Sherow is directing two grants, funded by the PA Department of Education's Bureau of Postsecondary and Adult Education, which are integral components of a statewide professional development system for adult education teachers.
