Department of Learning and Performance Systems
Welcome to Learning and Performance Systems, we're glad you found us here on the web. The Learning and Performance Systems (LPS) department is made up of three programs, Workforce Education and Development (WFED), Learning, Design, and Technology (LDT) and Adult Education (ADTED).
This is among the most dynamic and exciting groups of intellectuals to study with across the face of the university. Boasting programs that consistently rate in the top 3 nationwide in their fields, all of our programs are exceptionally strong.
Our faculty are engaged in:
-
funded research
-
outreach teaching online
-
service to the community, college, and university
-
Preparation of high level practitioners and researchers through active mentoring
Our department addresses issues such as:
• adult literacy and globalization
• community empowerment through education
• the learning sciences
• instructional design
• certification of teachers in workforce areas i.e., health sciences and carpentry
• examination of technology integration in classrooms of all sorts including pre-school through grade 12
traditional schools, museums, corporate training programs, and higher education
The list goes on and on, our faculty are actively engaged in thinking about things like what the power deregulation in the state of Pennsylvania is going to do to workforce needs, what is the impact of mobile learning, how can we use advanced tools like weblogs to improve educational settings, and what techniques impact family and adult literacy goals.
Believe me, it's the most fun intellectual sandbox you'll ever find to play in. We hope you enjoy the adventures in LPS in each of our programs.
You'll also find a few of our most recent kudos, information on each program, and links to related websites.
