On Thursday, November 25, 2010 Dr. Michael Moore was awarded the degree Doctoris Honoris Causa by the University of Guadalajara.

The citation for the Doctorate says it is "In recognition of his invaluable contribution with the theory of transactional distance and for his having provided professional development of the first generation of professors of the University of Guadalajara in distance education."
