S.C.O.P.E. INFORMATION
The Summer College Opportunity Program in Education (S.C.O.P.E.) is a program under the College of Education at The Pennsylvania State University. The program provides current high school sophomores from multicultural backgrounds with an opportunity to experience college life while participating in college course work.
The summer 2013 program will run from June 30th through July 26th, during the second summer session at the University Park campus, located in State College, Pennsylvania. S.C.O.P.E. is an intensive academic experience that will require students to participate in various college preparatory courses over a four week period. Students will also have the opportunity to meet with representatives of the College of Education to introduce them to various opportunities available in the field of education.
Penn State University, via the Office of the Vice Provost for Educational Equity and the Office of Multicultural Programs in the College of Education, will pay for living (room and board) and academic expenses (tuition and books).
To be eligible for S.C.O.P.E., a student must meet the following criteria:

- Be enrolled in a college-prep curriculum
- Be interested in Education careers (teaching, counseling, rehabilitation, special education, vocational education, educational administration, etc.)
- Have a high school grade-point-average of 3.00 or better
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (other status might be considered on a case by case basis)
Eligible students must be nominated by a school official (administrator, counselor, teacher, FEA advisor, etc.) and complete the enclosed application.
You may keep the cover page for your records. Please return the six (6) pages of the application and additional documentation by February 1, 2013.
