A Seven-Year Old's Bright Idea
Seven-year old Evan Wayne inspired the College to illuminate the Chambers Building sign. This is his story.
Alumna Establishing Scholarship in Honor of Sister
Patricia Lee and her sister, Mary, played women's basketball at Penn State in the early 1970s, both graduating from the College of Education. Patty is establishing a scholarship in memory of Mary, who passed away in 2006.

Higher Education Alumni Gathered Together to Celebrate Higher Education Milestones
Higher Education Program alumni, faculty, students, friends, and family members gathered during Arts Fest weekend, July 9-11, to celebrate a long legacy of combined success. The Higher Education Program, which is currently ranked #1 in the U.S., reached its 60-year milestone (est. 1950) and continues to offer graduate degrees to students from around the world. In addition, the prominently recognized Center for the Study of Higher Education surpassed its 40th year at Penn State (est. 1969).
Kelly Succeeding Peck as Associate Dean
Gregory J. Kelly, head of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the COE, has accepted an invitation to become the College's next associate dean for research, outreach, and technology, succeeding Kyle Peck in that position.
Leanne Walter Named 2010 Penn State College of Education Student Marshal
The College of Education has named Leanne E. Walter as its Summer 2010 student marshal. She will lead her class at the commencement ceremony, which will be held Saturday, August 14, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in the Bryce Jordan Center.

Long-time Teachers Establishing Science and Math Education Scholarship
A Pittsburgh area couple has pledged to create a new scholarship in the College of Education. The Bill and Bunny Vitori Scholarship in Science and Math Education will recognize and support outstanding undergraduates majoring in secondary education with a science- or math- related option.

New Report Urges Broad Changes in Mathematics Education Relationships
A new report published by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) indicates that changes to the nature of the relationships between researchers and mathematics educators could benefit both. Fran Arbaugh, associate professor of mathematics education in Penn State's College of Education, is lead author of the report.

The Nurse Aide Training: Teaching the Educator (TTE) Workshop offered through the Professional Personnel Development Center (PPDC) in the College of Education offers workshops throughout the year in which nurses can become certified to teach in nurse aide training programs.
