Linda Mason Receives Fulbright Grant to Hungary

University Park, Pa.-- Linda H. Mason, associate professor of education, has been awarded a Fulbright grant to teach in Hungary this fall.

Mason will serve her Fulbright at the University of Szeged in Szeged, Hungary during the fall semester. She will be teaching courses on instruction for students with special needs with a focus on literacy. Mason says she is looking forward to working with the faculty in a new program for special-needs teacher preparation at the university.

Mason received both her Ph.D. and M.Ed. in special education from the University of Maryland and her B.S. in home economics education from the University of Texas. She currently has a joint appointment at Penn State—in the College of Education’s Department of Educational Psychology, Counseling, and Special Education, and in the University’s Children, Youth, and Families Consortium. Her research interests focus on literacy for students with special needs, including curriculum development and reading and writing instructional methods, assessment, and inclusion.

The Fulbright Scholarship Program was founded in 1946 under legislation introduced by the late Senator J. William Fulbright to build mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the rest of the world.
