Josh Kirby

Joshua Kirby, doctoral candidate in Instructional Systems, delivered the keynote address at the annual Ohio Association of Two-Year Colleges Conference, held at the Tuscarawas campus of Kent State University in New Philadelphia, Ohio. Kirby’s keynote was titled “Technology With(out) Circuits: Ruthless Finger Pointing at ‘Technology’ (Mis)Uses for Learning.”

Jake Van Epps

Jake Van Epps, doctoral candidate in Counseling Psychology, received the Outstanding Student Research Award from the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Division 43: Family Psychology, for his presentation titled “Parent Child Abuse Potential, Mother Differentiation of Self, Child Behavioral and Physiological Self-Regulation” at the APA annual convention in Boston. The project was funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.

Alexander Yin

Alexander Yin, Ph.D. candidate in the Higher Education program, has received a $3,000 research grant from the Research Committee of the Cooperative and Experiential Education Division of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). Yin’s research project is titled, "Developing Engineering Problem-Solving Skills through Cooperative Education."

Emily Janke

The International Association for Research on Service Learning and Community Engagement presented Emily Janke ‘08 Ph.D. with one of two Dissertation Awards at the Association’s annual conference, held Oct. 25–28 in New Orleans. The award recognizes dissertations that advance research on service learning and/or community engagement through rigorous and innovative inquiry.
