Carr-Chellman to Lead Radio Discussion on Education Technology Trends

WARWICK, N.Y. - Alison Carr-Chellman, head of the Department of Learning and Performance Systems at Penn State, will be featured in a special interview on WTBQ radio in Warwick, N.Y. The interview will be part of WTBQ’s Creativity & Technology Solutions for Business & Life show.
Carr-Chellman and Scott Fischer, the general manager of Castle Software, Inc., will discuss the latest trends, technology, and thinking regarding innovative solutions that are making a difference for students in grades K-12. They will discuss the unique place that video gaming has in the classroom and in learning software.
The discussants will examine whether video gaming is the source of the problem in education or a symptom of a troubled education system. Carr-Chellman feels that it is the potential solution to future learning. “I am confident that if used properly and creatively, video gaming can be an exceptional way for students and particularly boys to re-engage in the education system,” she said.
Carr-Chellman has done extensive research on the impact of technology on large systems of education, K-12, corporate, and higher education. Her research interests center on re-engaging boys in their own learning through video gaming, systems thinking, diffusion of innovations, and the global impacts of online learning. She has published more than one hundred articles and book chapters, as well as four books.
