UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – David P. Baker, professor of education and sociology, has been elected to serve as president of the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) in the 2012–13 academic year.

The CIES secretariat elects a new slate of officers every three years. Baker will serve as the Society’s vice president in 2010–11 and as president elect in 2011–12, culminating in his presidential term in 2012–13.

The Society's members include more than 2,000 academics, practitioners, and students from around the world. The Society also includes some 1,000 institutional members, primarily academic libraries and international organizations.
