Twelve Students in Penn State’s Institutional Research Program Receive AIR Fellowships

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – For the second year in a row, the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) has awarded 12 of its prestigious doctoral Fellowships to Penn State students. Residential and online graduate students enrolled in Penn State’s Institutional Research program have won 24 of the 57 AIR awards nationally over the past two years.

Alex Yin, a resident doctoral candidate in Penn State’s Higher Education program, is among the 2008 winners. Also receiving Fellowships are Penn State online students Jean Constable, Mary Flagg, Mary Jo Harmon, Rebecca Heverly, John Hoffman, David Leavitt, Sally Mikel, Robert Miller, Margaret Moremen, Kelli Rainey, and Marilyn Valencia.

The AIR Fellowships, funded by the National Center for Education statistics (NCES), consist of up to $10,000 annually for up to three years of full-time or part-time graduate study. They are designed to promote graduate study that leads to careers in institutional research, thereby increasing the national level of expertise of institutional research officers and the data that they produce.
