Larry Cuban Delivers 2007 Nicely Lecture

Dr. Larry Cuban, professor emeritus from Stanford University and a preeminent scholar on the history of educational reform visited the College of Education on October 9th and 10th to deliver the Robert and Donna Nicely Lecture. The lecture series was created by an endowment from the Nicelys to support interaction among faculty members, graduate students, and other educators with national and international experts in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and educational leadership.
While visiting campus, Cuban met with a variety of groups including the Holmes Scholars and Humphrey Fellows. He also interacted with graduate students and faculty from the Department of Educational Policy Studies at a brown bag luncheon attended by approximately 40 people.
The visit ended with the delivery of the Nicely Lecture in Kern Auditorium. Approximately 150 individuals including several administrators from area school districts attended the talk, titled "National Education Policy, Research, and Classroom Practice: Teaching in an Era of Testing and Accountability."
