Orrin Murray Joins College as Director of EDUCATE

Orrin Murray joined the College of Education in January 2008 as both a new assistant professor of education and director of Exploring Directions in Ubiquitous Computing and Teacher Education (EDUCATE), a program working towards incorporating advanced technology in the classroom.murray.jpg

Murray comes to Penn State from the University of Michigan’s School of Education, where he was a postdoctoral fellow. He holds an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and a Ph.D. in education from the University of Michigan.

Murray has spent over a decade in the computer technology industry, focusing on integrating technology in K-12 education as well as managing sales and sales strategies for education at major corporations such as Apple Computer, Inc. His research focuses on the purposeful and useful application of technologies in education settings, with a specific focus on teacher preparation and how technology, broadly defined, can improve upon and extend the capacity and effectiveness of educators.
