Seven Faculty Members Receive Promotion/Tenure

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The College of Education is pleased to announce that all faculty names put forth before the University’s promotion and tenure committee have been approved. In letters from President Graham Spanier and Dean David Monk, seven faculty members were notified and congratulated on their accomplishments. Those receiving promotion/tenure as of July 1, 2008 are:

JoLynn V. Carney, Department of Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology and Rehabilitation Services, has been offered tenure.

Pui-Wa Lei, Department of Educational and School Psychology and Special Education, has been offered promotion to the rank of associate professor and tenure.

Linda H. Mason, Department of Education and School Psychology and Special Education, has been offered promotion to the rank of associate professor and tenure.

P. Karen Murphy, Department of Educational and School Psychology and Special Education, has been offered promotion to the rank of professor.

Robert D. Reason, Department of Education Policy Studies, has been offered promotion to the rank of associate professor and tenure.

Priya Sharma, Department of Learning and Performance Systems, has been offered promotion to the rank of associate professor and tenure.

Rose Mary Zbiek, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, has been offered promotion to the rank of professor.

The promotion and tenure process is a rigorous review of the faculty member’s scholarship of teaching and learning; research and creative accomplishments; and service to the University, society, and the profession.

“Each individual is to be commended for this richly deserved honor. They have all made tremendous contributions to the College and field of education. It is an honor to count these accomplished faculty members as part of our Penn State community,” said Dean David Monk.

All faculty members being promoted and tenured will be honored at a dinner hosted by Dean  Monk during the fall semester.
