Academic and Career Services Fair October 14, 2010

Representatives from a variety of campus programs and organizations will be available to College of Education students at the Academic and Career Services Fair on October 14, from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. in the main lobby area of Chambers Building. The event is designed to help students discover some of the helpful aspects of the University pertaining to academic programs and career services.

University Park, Pa. -- Penn State College of Education students soon will have a one-day centralized source to discover some of the helpful aspects of the University pertaining to academic programs and career services.

Representatives from campus programs and organizations will be available at the College of Education's Academic and Career Services Fair on October 14, from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. in the main lobby area of Chambers Building.

While the fair is part of the College's First Year Experience program, it is open to all students.

edmondson_sml.jpg“The College of Education is committed to the goals and objectives of the First Year Experience, which includes introducing students to the University and the College," says Jacqueline Edmondson, associate dean for undergraduate and graduate studies. "We strive to help students make connections with faculty, staff, and other students as they adjust to student life at University Park. We want all students to have a positive and productive experience as they pursue their educational and professional goals at Penn State.”

The Academic and Career Services Fair will introduce students to a wide variety of opportunities, programs, organizations, and services available to them as students at University Park. Among the resources with representatives participating in the fair: Penn State Career Services; Penn State Learning; academic programs in the College of Education, including Rehabilitation & Human Services, Education & Public Policy, Science Education, and Special Education; the Education Library (Paterno, 5th floor); and representatives from the College of Education alumni and scholarship offices.

The Penn State College of Education serves approximately 2,800 undergraduate and 1,200 graduate students each year. The College prepares administrators, counselors, psychologists and researchers, as well as P-12 teachers in 21 different specialty areas. U.S. News & World Report ranks ten of the College's graduate programs in the top 20 of their respective program rankings, with six programs in the top 10. The College is known nationally for its education research and outreach, housing such centers as the Center for the Study of Higher Education, the Center for Science and the Schools, and the Mid-Atlantic Center for Mathematics Teaching and Learning.
