Lucent Technology Foundation Partnership Grant in 1999

Lucent K-16 Partnership Grant

In 1999, the Elementary Professional Development School Collaborative was awarded one of 11 K-16 partnership Grants funded by the Lucent Technology Foundation. The purpose of the grants is to enhance simultaneous renewal and reform of basic and higher education through collaborative partnerships. The award was given through a national competition that attracted 96 grant applications. Our K-16 Partnership Grant has enhanced the work of the PDS in three distinct areas: incorporating technology into teaching for understanding; enhancing teacher inquiry, and the development of collaborative planning teams made up of university faculty, teachers, principals, and curriculum support teachers. These planning teams work together to plan and implement methods courses for interns and professional development experiences for veteran teachers.
