Commendations
12.2 Provide documentation of annual meeting of Local Advisory Committee (roster, minutes, recommendations).
ECAT: Outstanding and active OAC’s. OAC’s meet as many as 10 times per year. There is excellent industry representation: recommendations are focused on curriculum and equipment updates and in maintaining a program that enables students to attain industry certifications. Also, OAC members provide other program support, such as serving as guest speakers, providing site learning opportunities, and offering other student support.
MBIT: The 2006 Local Advisory Committee roster included twenty-one representatives from the community. The minutes from 2001-2006 indicated that three to four meetings are held each year with an average of twelve to fourteen members in attendance. The minutes were exceptionally well documented with details indicating relevant topics including building expansion and remodeling, equipment replacements and upgrades, plans to improve student achievement, curriculum mapping, and additional topics that indicated utilization of community input and leadership. The minutes also reflected a commitment by the administration to respond to recommendations and to detail how the recommendations would be implemented. The discussion on the three-year equipment procurement plan in the 2/17/06 minutes is an example of this attention to recommendations.
