Webinar: Differentiated Supervision
PSSC is happy to announce a webinar on DIFFERENTIATED SUPERVISION to be held on Monday, February 25, 2013, from 1:00-2:00 p.m.
Presenters:
- Dr. Tracy Hinish, Asst. Executive Director Tuscarora Intermediate Unit 11
- Dr. Jim Nolan, Henry J. Hermanowicz Professor of Teacher Education, Penn State
This webinar will address the following topics:
- Why differentiate?
- If differentiation is good for the instruction of students, shouldn’t it also be good for the professional learning of educators?
- Is differentiation working harder, or working smarter?
- Does your current Professional Development Plan allow for differentiation? Does it need revision to facilitate the new Teacher Effectiveness process?
- How will your district develop or improve a current differentiated supervision plan to facilitate the Teacher Effectiveness process?
- Questions from the webinar participants.
The PA Department of Education has developed guidelines for districts to create a differentiated supervision plan. This information was introduced at the recent SAS Institute in December by Dr. Hinish. With the Act 48 moratorium ending on June 30th, this opportunity to expand and focus the professional development of individual teachers, specific grade levels or content areas will bring a maximum value to student achievement. Differentiated Supervision that follows PDE guidelines can allow the sequence of staff members, especially tenured staff, into a district determined cycle of three to four years for the complete Danielson Framework Model.
Webinar conducted on Penn State’s Adobe Connect and will also be archived for your viewing at later dates.
Please email Ms. Sue Tighe at sjt11@psu.edu for registration information.
DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION IS MONDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2013.
