Dr. Pong's research in sociology of education concerns the linkage between education and demographic processes within the family, and the implications of education policies for social stratification. She has examined, in the U.S. and abroad, the impact on children's achievement of family structure, parenting styles, parental involvement, and teen employment. Her recent work focuses on educational outcomes of immigrants' children.
