Departments: Education Policy Studies, Center for the Study of Higher Education Dr. Terenzini has more than 35 years of experience in higher education as a teacher, researcher, and administrator. His research interests include the effects of college on students, institutional research, and assessment of student learning. He is the director on projects in engineering education and on the assessment of institutional effectiveness in promoting learning and persistence among first-year college students. Dr. Terenzini’s research focuses on the effects of student-faculty interaction, the college experience for low-income and first-generation students, and on the effects of students’ out-of-class experiences on higher-order thinking skills. He has received the research awards of the Association for the Study of Higher Education, the Association for Institutional Research, the American College Personnel Association, the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, and the American Society for Engineering Education. He is also a past president of the Association for the Study of Higher Education.
