Department: Educational Psychology, Counseling, & Special Education Dr. Mellin's research interests primarily focus on exploring the role of community in promoting mental health among youth including: (a) interprofessional collaborations; (b) school mental health; and (c) LGBT issues in schools. In addition, Dr. Mellin is also actively involved in engaged research focused on building school and community capacity for mental health prevention, early intervention, and intervention among youth. Prior to joining Penn State University, Dr. Mellin was a child and adolescent counselor, clinical supervisor, and grant writer for a community mental health program in Atlanta, Georgia. She is a nationally published author on topics related to counseling, collaboration, and school mental health. In addition to her appointment at Penn State University, Dr. Mellin is also involved in a variety of service activities related to youth mental health promotion at the national, state, and local levels.
