Invitation to Comment
Greetings from the College of Education!
Our programs that prepare school personnel are scheduled for a November
2004 continuing accreditation review by the National
Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). In this context,
public comment on the quality of our programs is invited, because we all
recognize that graduates, parents, schools, and community organizations
have valuable perspectives on the quality of these programs.
Interested parties are invited to submit their written testimony to:
Board of Examiners, NCATE, 2010 Massachussetts Ave. NW, Suite 500, Washington,
D.C. 20036-1023, or by email to: callforcomments@ncate.org.
NCATE specifies that comments must address substantive matters related
to the quality of our professional education programs, and should indicate
the respondent's relationship, if any, to Penn State (i.e., graduate,
present or former faculty member, employer of graduates).
Copies of all correspondence received by NCATE will be forwarded to Penn
State prior to the review. (Anonymous comments are not forwarded.)
Your comments are invited by August 15, 2004, to either of the two addresses
above.
If you should have any questions about the NCATE accreditation process,
feel free to contact Horst
von Dorpowski, Assistant Dean, at 814 865 2524, or horstv@psu.edu.
The NCATE standards and those of the various specialized professional
association can be accessed via http://www.ncate.org/standard/m_stds.htm.
Thank you for your interest.
