Eligibility

The following is a complete list of scholarships and eligibility requirements for undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled, or who will be enrolled, in Penn State's College of Education at University Park.

Please note that nearly all College of Education scholarships are awarded based on financial need. Penn State policy establishes the FAFSA as the sole measure of financial need. Information about the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is available at the U.S. Department of Education's official FAFSA website.

The College of Education’s Scholarship Committee makes decisions on college-wide scholarships/awards and is comprised of individuals in the following positions:

General Scholarships

John C. and Susanne Blough Abbott Scholarship in Education
Undergraduate students who are majoring in or planning to major in a teacher preparation program in the College of Education who have demonstrated financial need for funds to meet their necessary college expenses. First preference shall be given to students who are planning to teach in urban areas after graduation. Benefactors: John C. and Susanne Blough* Abbott

Mary Ann Landis Alexander Destiny Scholarship
Undergraduate and graduate students enrolled or planning to enroll in the College of Education who are the first generation in their families to attend a college or university, who show academic promise, and demonstrate financial need. Benefactor: Mary Ann Landis Alexander*

Allison Family Scholarship
Full-time undergraduate students majoring in Rehabilitation and Human Services who exhibit outstanding skills and/or superior academic records. Benefactors: Robert and Barbara Allison

Alumni Society 25th Anniversary/Pi Lambda Theta Scholarship
Superior full-time undergraduate and graduate students. First consideration to members of Pi Lambda Theta. One-half amount to graduate/one-half to Undergraduate. Benefactors: Alumni, Friends, and Pi Lambda Theta

Nancy S. Arnold Scholarship Fund
Full-time undergraduate students who are enrolled in the College of Education who have demonstrated an interest in teaching in the Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline. First preference shall be given to students who contribute to the diversity of the student body. Benefactor: Nancy Arnold

Dr. Nancy Baird Graduate Student Award in Curriculum and Instruction
Graduate students enrolled in the College of Education who are majoring in Curriculum and Instruction and have achieved academic excellence. Benefactor: Dr. Nancy Baird

Students enrolled in the College of Education at Penn State University who have achieved academic excellence in their field of study. Benefactor: Charles A. Baltzer

Lillian M. Barrett Scholarship for the College of Education
Full-time graduate and undergraduate students who have achieved superior academic records or who manifest promise of outstanding academic success, and who have a demonstrated financial need. Benefactor: Robert G. Shorr*

David Bayline Scholarship in the College of Education
Full-time undergraduate students who are enrolled or who plan to enroll in the College of Education, or successor academic unit, who have a demonstrated financial need for funds to meet their necessary college expenses and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Benefactors: J. Lois High Berstler Scholarship in Education

Suzy Williams Broadhurst Scholarship in Education

Anna Brown Scholarship for Foreign Language Instruction in the College of Education
Undergraduate students enrolled at least part-time who are either pursuing a degree in the World Languages program or who are pursuing a certification in Teaching of English as a Second Language in the College of Education. Benefactor: Anna Brown

Ph.D. and D.Ed. students in the Higher Education Program conducting research and assessing the outcomes of civic and community engagement efforts by colleges and universities in urban communities. Preference to research efforts focused on one of three areas: 1) the impact of college/university partnerships with K-12 schools, 2) the impact of higher education partnerships on the economic development of urban environments, or 3) the impact of service learning courses based in urban communities on student learning outcomes.
