Throughout the month of July, on Wednesday nights, the Journey Success Center will be offering a series of workshops. In these workshops, you’ll work collaboratively to learn research-based methods for creating successful systems.
On Wednesday, July 9, we’ll dive into the BALANSE model of student success and look at the different dimensions and how they relate to your life and goals.
Then, on July 16, there’s a workshop on time management, where we’ll explore methods and technology to help you keep track of your courses and the other activities you’re involved with.
On July 23, there’s a special workshop on how to prepare for class, what to do during class, and what to do after class in order to do well in your courses—especially in larger lecture-style courses that you might not be as familiar with.
And finally, on July 30, the workshop is on task and communication management. University courses often include long-term projects and use a number of different communication tools and systems to communicate with students. In this workshop, we’ll explore how to break those assignments down into manageable parts and how to navigate all those systems of communication—like email and Canvas—so they aren’t overwhelming and you don’t miss anything.
All of these workshops are free and open to all Penn State students, but they were designed with College of Education students in mind.
There is no need for you to figure all this out on your own.
These systems can help you throughout your college journey.
You can attend any or all of these workshops.
The registration forms for each of the workshops are on the Journey Success Center website, so bookmark the site now.
They’re also a great way to meet some of your College of Education peers and connect with others in the college.
